SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PUMP STATION OVERHAUL

9th March 2021

Longwall Hydraulics have recently completed a Longwall Pump Station overhaul for one of our valued local customers, South 32’s – Dendrobium mine, located in the Illawarra region of NSW.

The original pump station was manufactured and installed in 2011, and this is the first time the station has been out of the mine for a full overhaul. The pump station has been in operation for over 9 years in the underground environment, assisting in completing operational ROM targets of over 4.5m tonnes.

The overhaul consisted of the following key areas:

  • Complete disassembly of all components; blast, NDT and repaint all fabrications
  • Overhaul of all Kamat Pumps including upgraded electro-hydraulic control valving
  • Complete motor overhauls and electrical upgrades
  • Full electrical system replacement and upgrade to the latest technology
  • Crawler track overhauls and full pad replacement
  • Complete hosing replacement to comply with relevant safety standards and guidelines
  • Modifications to main high pressure and return line common pipes, to integrate new inline style flow meters for system monitoring.
  • Modifications to allow the installation of a monorail decompression system.
  • Installation of remote isolation/communications system.
  • Installation of new hand rail and lexan posts for ease of inspections and access for maintenance.

As part of the project scope, Longwall Hydraulics completed full on power 3300V, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure all systems were functionally tested, providing the guarantee of a seamless install underground. All relevant site introduction documentation was also completed prior to delivery back to site.

A big thank you to the Longwall Hydraulics team involved, as well as all our local vendors, in particular the teams at Dynelec and Pirtek. Another successful project completed on time, on budget to the highest quality standards.
